American Henry Clews and his wife Marie bought this ruined, 14th century property in 1918, and restored the chateau according to its original plans. Marie added gardens, which display her husband's many sculptures. The chateau was occupied by the Germans during the Second World War, but afterwards Marie returned to create the La Napoule Foundation as a tribute to her late husband and to promote art in the United States and France. Talented artists from around the world continue to study their disciplines here. Address: BP 940 Mandelieu-La Napoule French Riviera France 06210
