Saint-Paul-de-Vence Museums

Fondation Maeght is one of the most modern art museums in Europe, and was a 'gift to the people' from Aime and Margeurite Maeght. It houses an impressive contemporary art collection. The building, designed by Jose Luis Sert, is an impressive piece of architecture, and the gardens, terraces and lawns outside display numerous sculptures. The building is multi-leveled, and features glass walls that provide an indoor-outdoor vista. Inside, the exhibitions change frequently. 20th century art remains the focus, and works by Matisse, Bonnard, Leger, Kadinsky, and others is showcased here, as are works completed by new and up and coming artists. Also located here are a library, a cafeteria, and a gift shop selling prints and lithographs.
